Reports: U.S. probes Silicon Valley tech giants' hiring - Sacramento Business Journal:

The Washington Post and New York Times reportedr late on Tuesday that the antitrustr probe is centered onwhether (NASDAQ:GOOG), (NASDAQ:AAPL), and others agreed not to recruiy each other's employees. The stories cited unnamed sources the papers said are familiart withthe matter. The investigation is reportedlyg in itsearly stages, with the papers saying that the government has requested documentds and information from targeted companies. The inquirgy is seen as another sign that the Obama administratiohn will be more aggressive on antitrus t laws than his predecessor and Silicon Valley tech firmsa are a focus ofthat attention.
The Justice Department is currentlgy also investigating a proposed settlementbetween Google, authors and publishers to resolve a copyrightf dispute, the Wall Street Journal has reporteed citing unnamed sources. The Federal Trade Commissiobn has also asked questions abourt whether having Google CEO Eric Schmidt and formerGenentech Inc. CEO Art Levinson on both the Apple and Googlre board is a violation ofantitrust laws.
