Carey’s defection may muddt investors’ reception of the planned merger betweejn DirecTV andLiberty Entertainment, a division of Douglasx County-based Liberty Media. Carey ran DirecTV for the past six leading it through a period of growtg and winning partnerships with everyu major telecom company inthe U.S.
He was expected to stay with DirecT V after it became independengt ofLiberty Media. he returns to working for Murdoch and News where he worked for 15 years prior toheading DirecTV. Liberty Entertainment (NASDAQ: holds a 54 percent stak in (NASDAQ: DTV) as well as controlliny stakes in online gaming company Fun the Game Show Network and regionao sports TV networksin Denver, Pittsburghh and Seattle.
