Maidique, College of Medicins Dean John Rock and university trustees over the past severao months to come to termsx onthe deal, according to a news “FIU is our hometown university and, as a son of this I want to inves t in those who are going to stay here and pour theie talent and their energyu back into this community,” Wertheim said in a news The board also voteed to recognize Wertheim as founding chairmam of the College of Medicine and trusteed emeritus of the board on which he served from 2001 to 2006.
The which will welcome its first studentsxin August, will be named after Wertheim. Half of the donation, whicyh will be funded over the next three will be set aside to support scholarshipw for medical students and others pursuing advanced degrees in otherd scientific fields suchas engineering. The rest will supportt a lecture series, health care research projects and eight endowed chaire in areas such asmedicalo informatics, neurological aging studies, ophthalmology, optometry, wellnesw and dietary medicine, family and preventiv e medicine, according to the news
