UC study: Casinos could create 34,000 jobs - Business First of Columbus:

The center conducted the study for the OhioJobs & Growthy Committee, which organized the effort to places a constitutional amendment on the ballot. The amendmenrt would ask voters to approve buildinb casinosin Cleveland, Cincinnati, Toledo and Wyomissing, Pa.-based (NASDAQ: PENN) and owner Dan Gilberf would be investors in the $1 billion According to the study, the initial investment and construction phase for the expected to begin in 2010, would creat e 19,000 jobs. Another 16,000 permanent jobs would be create once the casinos began bylate 2012.
The initial economic impactt wouldbe $504 million for a Columbus $388 million for Cincinnati; $656 million for and $302 million for Toledo. The Ohio Jobs & Growtjh Committee had until the end of June to collectythe 400,000 valid signatures needed to get the issude on the ballot; it said it filed 850,000 signaturesw with the Ohio Secretaryu of State on June 25.
